About us
COMET-NANO group
The work of this research group is focused on the preparation, characterization and study of the catalytic and biological properties of metal complexes and nanostructured materials, specifically the lines of research are currently focused on:
-Preparation and study of the antitumor properties of new nanostructured materials functionalized with anticancer agents with potential application in chemotherapeutic treatments.
-Synthesis of intelligent controlled drug delivery systems based on biocompatible nanostructured materials with stoppers consisting of macromolecular systems with potential application for the prevention of the reproduction of bone tumors.
-Design of new chiral polyfunctional ligands with coordinating groups and chiral centers in their structure that are potentially reactive with the silanol groups present in the inorganic supports. Preparation of new hybrid titanium and copper materials that can act as catalysts in polymerization of polar monomers by ring opening, polymerization of olefins, oxidation of alcohols and asymmetric epoxidation of olefins in heterogeneous systems.
-Design and synthesis of metallic nanoparticles with high activity for oxidation processes, epoxidation and formation of C-C bonds.
-Design and development of photocatalysts based on doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles prepared using simple methods with large-scale industrial production and application possibilities, with potential application in hydrogen production, photo-oxidation, water decontamination and carbon dioxide recovery.
-Preparation of new hybrid materials with potential application in carbon dioxide valorization.
