The current thematic network METALBIO: Metals in Biological Systems is an evolution of the METALBIO network, which began in 2015 associated with the call for excellence networks (CTQ2015-71211-REDT). It was conceived as a platform of nine research groups focused on the study of metal ions and complexes associated with various processes of biological interest. Later, in the 2017 call (CTQ2017-90802-REDT), this network increased the number of researchers, integrating 10 research groups and more than 50 participants with similar interests in different fields such as Bioinorganic Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Inorganic Materials Chemistry, Nanomaterials, and biological systems of therapeutic and/or environmental interest. The aim of the network is collaboration, complementarity, and the search for synergies among researchers with similar interests within the field of Bioinorganic Chemistry.
